We all go through it, but we don’t necessarily admit to it: the thrill of starting something new. For example, going on a roller coaster you’ve never been on, touring a new city/country, eating at a new restaurant, motivation to work out, being in a new relationship, or trying out a new job.

But what happens after that experience?! You’ll talk about it with your roommates, and tell the story 3 or more times to your friends, or blog about it.

I found the period of excitement lasts for about 3 months, then it just dies down. My best example is working at a new job. The first 3 months are full of meeting your new co-workers, determining the work load, figuring out your resources to help you excel in your job (get a promotion), and getting comfortable at your workstation. Then after those first few months, you get the hang of things and it become routine.

Question is, how do we continue to keep that spark in our lives? Why do things/events need to be new to have that effect on us?

…Sorry to say, I don’t have an answer nor a solution but I hope you can offer one.

Symmetry

As I was approaching, little Sheila perked her ears up and starting jetting at me; you could hear her clawing at the ground. Unfortunately, she was held back by her owner who looked like he was having trouble holding her back.

As I got closer, little Sheila did reach me and jumped on my leg, so I gave her a little pet (I would have shown more affection but I was in a rush and well, keep reading). The owner smiled as he apologized, “I’m sorry.” Like puppy like owner, they were both cute and adorable! :X I laughed and said, “it’s fine, it’s cute,” and continued on my way home without looking back, restraining myself from asking more about the dog and wallowing in cuteness and soft fur. :)

Now, when you see a guy with a cute puppy like that, you KNOW they are most likely in a relationship. No guy is going to adopt a cute little puppy on their own! (The girlfriend probably made the choice, giving the extra convincing with her own puppy-pout face.) Most guys like big, macho things to make them seem bigger…like big trucks, big pants, big shirts, and big dogs.

So guys, when you are using a dog to attract girls, sure you will and you’ll get the “how cute,” “how old,” and “what kind” questions but most girls can already determine if you’re single or taken by the cuteness of the dog.

For you simple minded people:
cute, small dog = taken;
big dog = single.
